Found this short sale that probably will attract some attention

MLS#71008654 - Newer kitchen, near a park and elementary school - $320k the owners paid $348k back in 2005. Know that Quincy has dropped 11% since 2005, you might be able to get a deal here.

Bonus property
MLS# 71000125 - Saw this property back when I was shopping, it was too expensive but its really dropped in price. Great deal for Milton at $350k. Make sure you check the area out though, it was turning a bit "ghetto".

Or you can wait until the rates rise, and prices fall some more, as the unemployment keeps steady at 10% and possibly goes up some more.

At this point I'm still looking, but I'm discouraged. Still saving - on the sidelines until something good comes along.

However, it is possible to live on $40k-$45k a year with a family of 4 without sacrificing much. Give about $15k to taxes and you have $40k left a year. In 10 years, you can easily save $400k for downpayment/retirement.

I don't follow this math here...how is anyone going to save 100% of after tax income? :?:

I think he was replying to the statement that it costs well over $90k to live in Boston. So, if you make $90 and can get by on $40-45, then you could save $40k a year.
