#RebateUp weekend: Redfin rocked the real estate industry this week by announcing a stealth project we spotted a month ago. They're using Boston as a test market for a new direct offer option for their listings that supposedly gives DIY homebuyers a financial advantage -- forego working with any buyer agent, including a Redfin agent, so your offer nets the seller more profit.
We'd like to invite homebuyers who are actively looking for homes, particularly those using Redfin's website, to participate in a round table discussion about what they perceive as the pluses and minuses of Redfin's approach. Unintentionally posted Poll before completing it, so invite anyone who HAS submitted an offer directly to a listing agent to use the comment field to tell their story.
If you're a first-time homebuyer, what are you hearing in homebuyer education classes or reading online about submitting an offer directly to a listing agent versuses having your own buyer agent.
Are you aware that some buyer agents offer rebates, including some that are considerably bigger than Redfins?
