#RebateUp weekend: Redfin rocked the real estate industry this week by announcing a stealth project we spotted a month ago. They're using Boston as a test market for a new direct offer option for their listings that supposedly gives DIY homebuyers a financial advantage -- forego working with any buyer agent, including a Redfin agent, so your offer nets the seller more profit.

We'd like to invite homebuyers who are actively looking for homes, particularly those using Redfin's website, to participate in a round table discussion about what they perceive as the pluses and minuses of Redfin's approach. The photo above is linked to the question we posed on Twitter and cross-posted on our Instagram account:

#DIY Homebuyers: Submitting offer directly on @Redfin listing? Why deny yourself 100% #rebate of #BuyerAgency fee hidden in sales price?

We've invited Redfin to join us, see thread with their CEO: http://bit.ly/RebateUP_Invite2Redfin

Unintentionally posted Poll before completing it, so invite anyone who HAS submitted an offer directly to a listing agent to use the comment field to tell their story.

If you're a first-time homebuyer, what are you hearing in homebuyer education classes or reading online about submitting an offer directly to a listing agent versuses having your own buyer agent.

Are you aware that some buyer agents offer rebates, including some that are considerably bigger than Redfins?
