Impact on housing market in Massachusetts:
"...one third of the number of homes on the market"
http://bit.ly/MtgCapImpact
Will that “...place the American Dream further out of reach for millions of Americans," according to President of Realtors, or begin price correction?
What impact is it having on your own househunt, or if you're already a homeowner, your decision to trade-up or downsize? _________________ Bill Wendel

1/3 Anyone listen to the @NPR / @OnPointRadio program yesterday? After hearing economist Mark Zandy predict "more affordable house prices over a 2-3 year adjustment period" of any #homebuyers backing out of sales scheduled to close in 2018? #DefensiveHomebuying #RECALL #RE2020
2/3 Will #homebuyers who bought in 2017, particularly those advised to bid over asking price in BLIND #BiddingWars, have legal recourse against buyer agents - particularly #FakeBuyerAgents (aka #DesignatedAgents) who did NOT warn them about uncertainty / RISK posed by #TaxReform?
3/3 A stunning 1 in 4 #homebuyers experience #BuyerREmorse; will that number surge in 2018 because of #TaxReform? If you've been sitting on the sidelines, glad you did NOT buy or engage in a bidding war in 2017? What are your plans for 2018 - 2020? #DefensiveHomebuying #RECALL _________________ Bill Wendel

More affordable is not true for every situation. The new tax change will mostly affect houses over 750k. There will be no discount for houses under 750k because there's a shortage of supply. I do believe houses over 1.5 million and most condos could see meaningful price declines of 5-10%. The only reason to buy a condo versus rent an apartment is the tax deduction which is moot now -- condo living is apt living. Most people buy houses because they want a yard for their kids to play and the stability of not having to move. I could be wrong about the really high priced houses because rich people can still have their businesses/LLC buy their houses and rent it to themselves to regain their tax benefits. |

Boston is a toilet. Last year I moved to North Carolina after being born and raised there. $450,000 I bought a new construction 3500 sq ft house on 2 acres in a nice neighbor with great schools. Left my job making $150,000 and got one here for $125,000. Boston can keep it's old shit hole housing and its influx of foreigners and foreign money. Place has become a dirt hole |
